Fatigue Damage and Additive Manufacturing

IJMS_2022.PNG

Titled ''experimental monitoring and modeling of fatigue damage for 3D-printed (3DP) polymeric beams under irregular loading'', this paper discusses a novel health monitoring method for 3DP polymeric structures. How the damage evolves under irregular loading, what damage mechanisms compete with one another, and why it is important for anti-fatigue design for 3DP polymers in structural applications.

MSSP_2020.PNG

Titled ''Fatigue life estimation of structures under statistically and spectrally similar variable amplitude loading'', this paper discusses a new cumulative damage approach that accurately estimates fatigue life given stress-time histories. It can delineate statistically and spectrally similar irregular loads which render the traditional method failing.

Machine Learning

SCIREP_2020.PNG

Titled ''Elucidating the constitutive relationship of calcium–silicate–hydrate gel using high throughput reactive molecular simulations and machine learning'', this work presents a machine learning-based predictive tool for the elastic properties of CSH gel based on molecular scale simulations.

Field Decomposition and Modal Analysis

JVA_2022.PNG

Titled ''Subband Decomposition Based Output-Only Modal Analysis'', this work demonstrates a filterbank-assisted smooth orthogonal decomposition framework that is robust and accurate in identifying underrepresented modes due to (1) sensor nonlinearity and (2) low modal participation.

01

Class Material for Finite Element Analysis in Machine Design

Composed guides for MCE301 at the University of Rhode Island when I was a teaching assistant. The guides accompany other class materials and texts that help the students realize the connection between the analytical stress solutions and the finite element approximations.

02

Fault Diagnosis Guide and Toolbox for Mechanical Engineering Experimentation

Composed guides for MCE313, Introduction To Mechanical Engineering Experimentationat the University of Rhode Island when I was a teaching assistant. This guide is designed for both TAs and the students to get the gist of the essential tools for fault diagnosis in rotating machinery.
